RELIGHT Venice: Candles

Relight Venice Candles are an exclusive design product inspired by Venetian iconic architectures.
The name declares the hope to give light back to Venice by focusing on authenticity, sustainability and traditions.
The gesture of re-lighting or not consuming the candles symbolizes and embodies a crucial question for the city of Venice, its tourists and in-habitants:
Would you either (re)light Venice, consume it or preserve it?

Materials (local, sustainable & social):
Our candles are made in soy wax and recycled materials from local craftsmen: the bases are made from the leftover wood used by remeri in the construction of the forcole of gondolas (the support on which the oar is pivoted to row Venetian boats), while the brass supports are made in collaboration with the historic Fonderia Valese, the only one in the Venice lagoon area.

In addition to the artisans, the Giudecca women's prison was also involved, which collaborates with Relight Venice for the production of candles:
an important social collaboration that donates light to this project.

Guglia

Guglia Candle represents the pinnacles of the Fondaco dei Tedeschi terrace, an historical place that used to be a warehouse for German merchants. Venetians nowadays remember it as a post office, the signs of which can still be seen on the outside walls.
Now it is a luxury mall and cultural centre that gives prominence to many local artisans.

Little Venice

The “Little Venice” candles ironically allude to the small Venetians
dotting the world, reproduced to scale as stage sets;
with these small candles, bearing symbols such as
the lion of St. Mark, gondolas, the Rialto Bridge and many others,
you can reconstruct your own Venice anywhere in the world!..but remember, no Venetians no soul ;)

Bauta

The “Bauta” replicates the mask worn by Casanova
to avoid being recognized.
Its elongated shape made it possible to drink and eat
without taking off the mask, but above all
it acted as a sounding board by altering the tone of your voice,
preventing acquaintances from recognizing you.

The wells reworked the shape and decorations of the various “Pozzi”
that dotted the Venetian “campi”
(how they citizens call the squares of the city),
